Uterine fibroids are quite common with varying estimates between 35-85% of women having these usually benign tumors of the uterus.  Both Dr. Lukes and Stanfield have a comprehensive approach to management of uterine fibroids.  We begin with identifying and understanding what type of symptoms you have related to fibroids.  Many women infact do not have symptoms.

We are active in offering all options on diagnosis and management of uterine fibroids.  Treatments range from doing nothing to medical and surgical options.  We are involved in some of the latest research relating to uterine fibroids - and have forged relationships with those at UNC and Duke University to bring you the latest options.

Within our office we offer state-of-the-art pelvic ultrasound, saline based sonography and office based hysteroscopy within our clinic.  Knowing what type of fibroid you may have (submucosal versus subserosal) is important in deciding what you can do for treatment.
